Only 5 minutes away from downtown West Jefferson, the Ashe County Corn Maze and Pumpkin Festival has quickly become a fall tradition for anyone looking for some classic (and not so classic) fall fun. The festival improves every year as the owners seek to add new and exciting features that will engage their guests and give them an experience they won’t forget.
Each year, a fresh design is cut into 5 acres of corn, providing a challenge for new and experienced maze seekers alike. Fully grown, the corn is nearly 10 feet high! Aerial views of the maze may reveal pictures and words for some added fun. The corn maze can take as little as 30 minutes and up to an hour or so. Go at your own pace and take in the beautiful natural surrounds of the Ashe County scenery.
Once you’ve made your way through the corn maze, head over to the pumpkin patch to pick and choose from a variety of decorative pumpkins, gourds, and sunflowers. They have multiple acres of different varieties of pumpkins and gourds, from classic jack-o-lantern pumpkins to heirloom and ghost pumpkins. Pick your pumpkin right off the vine!
Make sure you devote plenty of time to this experience because there is plenty more to do after the maze and pumpkin pickin’. Order a hot dog or hot chocolate and sit by the outdoor fire or challenge friends to a race on the obstacle course or cornhole on the lawn. With activities such as shooting pumpkin cannons, knocker balls, pumpkin bowling, hay rides and live music, people of all ages will enjoy the picturesque setting and memories in the making.
Whether you are looking for quality time with your family or a place to bring a date, the Ashe County Corn Maze and Pumpkin festival will provide a perfect atmosphere to enjoy the magic of fall in the mountains.
