November in the High Country is a crazy time of year for families. The weather has settled in, students are drowning in homework, and families are searching for fun outings to relieve fall stress. As families prepare their grocery lists for Thanksgiving and pack up the pumpkins, spending time with their loved ones becomes secondary. It is essential to spend quality time with family. Although it is important to maintain daily life tasks, in the famous words of Mother Teresa, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.”
Luckily, we at High Country 365 have saved you the time of searching for family-friendly events in November. Here’s our attempt to take the pressure off figuring out family time.
Week 1: Bonfire & Live Music!
Gather the family around and roast your s’mores over a warm flame while enjoying live music. Don’t forget to bring your fuzzy blankets and yard chairs! All are welcome.
Week 2: Accapellagedon
November 11th: Bring the family for an entertaining night of music and fun. Acappellageddon is back and better than ever to celebrate its ten year anniversary! Featuring eight of Appalachian’s a cappella groups, this event has a large pool of participants. This year, each group will be performing songs from 2007 to celebrate the premier year of Acappellageddon, ten years ago. At only $5 a person it makes for an affordable family outing that exposes kids to see hard work and talent combine for some unforgettable performances.
Week 3: Christmas Mini-Tour!
Join the Apple Hill Farm Family this month on a guided mini tour of their lovely farm. While walking the trail you will be introduced to the farm animals and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate, apple cider, and cookies. This a great way to get the kids outdoors while enjoying what farm life has to offer.
Week 4: Festival of Trees
It’s that time again, time for the annual Festival of Trees! Whether you are new to the area, or a permanent resident, this appeals to everyone! During this event you can buy a fully decorate tree for your home, bid on your favorite decorated tree (that comes with PRESENTS!), and purchase decorated wreaths-all while admiring the Christmas spirit. Your donations at this event raise funds for Western Youth Network, an organization that’s mission is “To build youth of character & confidence so that every young person in the High Country reaches their full potential.”
