Grammy Award-winning Country superstar Jennifer Nettles has become one of the most admired singer-songwriters in music today. Since exploding onto the music scene in 2004 as lead vocalist for international duo Sugarland, Nettles has recently released her debut album “Playing With Fire.” She has won five ASCAP awards for her songwriting abilities and received a Grammy Award, ACM Award and CMA Award for penning the emotionally charged, #1 PLATINUM hit, “Stay.”
At the 2009 ACM Awards, Nettles was honored with the “Crystal Milestone Award” for being the first female artist to be the solo songwriter on an ACM “Song of the Year” winner since 1972. Leading with her powerhouse vocals and vivacious energy, Nettles has performed with some of the industry’s most iconic figures including Beyoncé, Bon Jovi, Idina Menzel, John Legend, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and more.
The Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts is a 1,673-seat multi-use auditorium located on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. The Center features orchestra and balcony level seating and a proscenium stage. The Schaefer Center is also home to the Smith Gallery. It is dedicated to enhancing the artistic and cultural landscape of Appalachian State University and the surrounding region by providing a venue devoted to the year-round presentation of campus and community events that enrich, educate, inspire, and promote quality of life.
Previously known as the Performing Arts Series, The Schaefer Center Presents features a diverse mix of live music, dance and theatre performances throughout the academic year.
