Owner and Executive Chef Sam Ratchford is a native of the Boone area, who attended culinary school at New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont. After a few years as a sous chef in Park City Utah, Sam returned to High Country to be near his family and become the first Executive chef at Storie Street Grille in Blowing Rock. Alyce moved to Boone from Asheville in the fall of 2000 to attend Appalachian State University studying Special Education and Psychology. They met each other while working together at Storie Street, Sam as chef and Alyce as a front of house manager. Sam focuses on using as much local and seasonal products as possible year round. In early 2015, they renovated the existing restaurant to add a bar and more seating.
